My favorite part of the book has to be when Catherine was able to put Anne Marie in a regular schhol and she was doing well. I found it so interesting that it took so many different doctors approaches to find a solution that Catherine agree with, she hired different therapist to try different approaches while she watched even know this was hard for her to see her daughter struggle. I could could not image having to go through this with a child of my own, this family happen to be very wealthy which made some thing a little easier.
Hitting the Jackpot!!
WOOOOO HOOOOOO the first thing i would do would be to scream at the top of my lungs!!!! If i hit the jackpot tomorrow i would make sure that my family was MORE than taken care of, pay off my parents mortgage, redo a few rooms in their house, pay off my sisters student loans and give them all enough money to do what they want with it. Then i would make sure that my grandparents could live comfortably and do as they please until they just cant anymore! As for me….i would invest some of the money, maybe by some real estate, walk up and down fifth ave and buy what ever i wanted (b/c i can). once all that is said and done i would TRAVEL TRAVEL TRAVEL!!!!! i would spend a few months around the world, in some of the nicest hotels and in some small villages where i can really get a feel of that country. When i get home from my travel i know i would be bored as hell so i would most likely get a job, even volunteering somewhere to help others!
Balancing Work and Family
Balancing work and family is always something that should be important to you. Currently i am working full time at a real estate office in Brooklyn and going to school at night, you can only image how busy i am! Sometimes i get so overwhelmed with both work and school work i tend to take it out on the ones i love most. Recently i told myself that i would keep all work and school work out of my house and away from my friends/family. I set certain days to get all my school work done, and promise myself on my hour commute back and fourth from Brooklyn that i wont bring my work frustrations home! everyone has there way of doing things, this happens to be mine….seems to be working so far…..except for Monday, Mondays are rough for everyone!
An Elusive Goal
Right now i feel that my one elusive goal is have a happy family grow old together on long island. This has always been a goal of mine, now that i have come closer to reaching a point of settling down with my boyfriend we see how difficult it is going to be! Before even thinking to start a family we need to find somewhere to live….and living in long island is NOT easy! Everything is so expensive and totally out of control. I’m not quite sure how our generation is supposed to be able to do it?! I really hope that the economy changes so we will be able to enjoy the next stage of our lives as our parents did.
One place I have always wanted to vist
I have always wanted to spend a few weeks of my summer hopping around the islands in Greece. It looks so beautiful there. The water is so clear and the islands building are all white. I told myself that i would go this summer with my sister, i still haven’t gotten around to booking a ticket tho. I want to get there and explore all the small towns in the cities and eat fresh fish from the mediterranean. I hope i get to go sooner than later!
A Memorable Teacher
Mrs Barth…..not only did Mrs Barth change my life but I’m pretty sure i changed hers too 🙂 Mrs. Barth was my sixth grade homeroom teacher, along with 24 other students that year. Sixth grade was my first year out of grade school, i was kind of on my own! Had my own locker, a schedule, and different classes. The summer going into the middle school everyone waited to get their schedules in the mail to see who they got as a teacher and who was in our classes. (there were 3 grade schools merging to one middle school, so there were a ton on unfamiliar names) The day i got my schedule was a very bitter sweet day, i was in class with some of my best friends but we had MRS BARTH as a teacher. Rumor has it the lady was nuts, she was super mean and gave tons of homework!!
The first day of school, boy were the rumors on point! she was crazy, frizzy hair, tight clothes, stopping her lesson to put on lip liner and lipstick…oh and she loved to pic up her cell phone in class too! One day as a class we came together and talked about Mrs. Barth and how crazy and mean she was, we needed a way to make her realize. Me being the outgoing person i am said that i was going to walk up to her and tell her to her face!
Well i did just that! “Mrs. Barth, you are out of control as a teacher, you give way to much homework and you are always putting on your makeup in class and every dreads being in your class!” DEAD SIELENCE. My hear was racing a 1000 miles a minuet until i saw Mrs Barth’s eyes fill up with water and tears began falling down her face. She waited a few seconds then wrapped her arms around me and gave me a huge hug! (times have changed!!) The next period she made the whole class sit in a large circle and told us that a few things were going to change, she wanted our input on how she can improve her classroom. She realized that everyone knew what i had done.
The end of the year was one of the saddest things all 25 of us had to do. Not one person wanted to leave Mrs. Barth’s classroom. We had huge party and surprised her with a bracelet from Tiffany and Co. At the end of the party Mrs. Barth told us that we were a special group of students that she will never ever forget. Mrs. Barth was the person that made me realize i wanted to be a teacher, she showed me how a teacher can be such an inspiration and role models to their students.
She taught me a lot, and we had a great relationship the following years. I still keep in touch with her today…rumor has it every year students wait to get their schedules hoping to be in Mrs. Barth’s class!! She told me that guidance counselors have been having trouble organizing who goes where!
A Book I Would Love to Write
I think i would most love to write a book about my family! I say this for a few reasons; one it would be a comedy, romance, drama, horror, action thriller all rolled up into one! Another reason is the fact that it would be fun and easy to write, i swear i catch myself saying out loud “you cant make this stuff up” all the time. If i had a pen and paper hand half the time i would make millions! My family is over the top outrageous. There is always something going on, good or bad. We are a very large bunch and always traveling in group…….a day does not go by where we are not getting in to trouble or causing a scene somewhere.
If I was a character from a movie/tv show, I would be….
If I was a character from a TV show, I would be Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City. There are just so many reasons why I feel like I can connect to her every time I watch the show. First and for most my LOVE of fashion! I love fashion, seeing new trends, reading different fashion blogs, keeping up with all the hottest pieces of the seasons. I think Rachel Zoe has said it best “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak” In the Show Sex in the City Carrie does just that, she wears some of the loudest outfits I have ever seen. I think my love of fashion and shoes have most defiantly sprung from Carrie Bradshaw. Another reason why I think I would be her is the fact that she is a hopeless romantic. I love love, I know it sounds cliché but I can’t help it! There’s nothing better than a happy ending or having a romantic getaway or evening with the one you love best! The only thing that I don’t have in common with Carrie Bradshaw is her love for writing…..I am most defiantly NOT a writer, at least nothing worth publishing!
My Passion
When it comes to my passion i have a few that stand out the most, also they work together! I have a undesirable love for food and travel. For me, food is a staple in every culture. It brings families together, friends closer, opens your pallet to new tastes and cultures. I love learning different recipes, and of course making them! I love to be in the kitchen book cooking and baking! There’s nothing better than making something from scratch and watching people eat it and their faces light up with excitement. The most recent recipe i have baked was a Scone/cookie It was called the Strawberry Short Cake cookie…it was delicious! My second passion being traveling….well lets face it who doesn’t LOVE to travel? i say that food and travel go hand in hand because to me they do. When i got to different places in the world, i love to the the most authentic foods and treats of that specific place. I learn the way that they cook and use their ingredients. Sometime i will see an ingredient used completely different than i have used in my cooking. Traveling opens my mind to so many amazing thing, i hope that i will be fortunate enough in my life to be able see as much as the world as i am able to!
If I wasn’t a teacher
If I was not a teacher, I feel that I would fit very well in the corporate world or marketing. It is very high pace work that tends to be stressful but extremely rewarding in the end. I am the type of person that loves to see the end product. When I first started school, mind was everywhere, from culinary to fashion to hospitality. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to work with people to get an end product that would make people satisfied. Weather that be making the perfect dish or perfect dress. I really think that I would love to be in an high pace environment such as marketing. This is a job that you need to spend a lot of time talking to others to get to the final product. I am a very visual person, this to is why I think that marketing would suite me best.
